Zonov AI Assistant is a voice and OCR tool for hospital staff. This policy explains exactly what data the extension accesses, what leaves your device, and what never does.

1. What data is collected

• License key - A hospital-issued key you enter in the popup. Stored locally in Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local). Sent to your hospital's Zonov backend only to verify your subscription - never to any third party.
• Voice audio - Captured only when you press the microphone button. The audio clip is sent to your hospital's Zonov backend server for speech-to-text transcription. The returned text is used to fill form fields. Audio is not stored on any server after transcription.
• ID card / document images (OCR) - Only when you explicitly trigger the Aadhaar/document scan. The image is sent to your hospital's Zonov backend for field extraction. Images are not stored after processing.

2. What data never leaves your device

• Patient form values - Field content typed or filled in hospital forms is processed entirely within your browser. It is never sent to Zonov servers or any third-party API.
• Browsing history - The extension only activates on hospital pages you explicitly grant access to. It does not track or record any browsing activity.
• Microphone - The microphone is never accessed in the background. It is activated only by a deliberate user action and stopped immediately after each voice segment.

3. Permissions used and why

• tabs - To broadcast license status to open hospital pages after you connect.
• storage - To save your license key and settings locally.
• offscreen - To enable microphone access on HTTP-only hospital pages (Chrome security model requirement).
• downloads (optional) - Only requested if you export a report. Not used by default.

4. Third-party services

Your hospital's Zonov backend uses OpenAI Whisper for speech transcription and Groq / OpenAI vision models for OCR. These services receive only the audio clip or image you submit - never any patient identifiers or form data. They are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

5. Data retention

• Your license key and cached license data remain in Chrome's local extension storage until you clear extension data or uninstall the extension.
• Voice audio and images are sent transiently for processing and are not retained by Zonov or its AI subprocessors after a response is returned.

6. Children's privacy

This extension is intended for licensed healthcare professionals only. It is not directed at children under 13.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, the effective date above will be updated. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance.
